Cycling – Off Road – Fairhope - Eastern Shore Trail

Cycle along the 24-mile Eastern Shore Trail, a pedestrian/cycle path from the USS Alabama Battleship Park in Mobile to the Grand Hotel in Point Clear and beyond. Route passes through bayside communities of Daphne and Fairhope

This is a great ride for beginners or for anyone who wants to ride their bike along, but on a route mostly away from traffic.  
Route Info:
This hiking and biking route gives you the opportunity to soak up sun and scenery. You’ll also get a taste of history; the trail includes Battleship Park, home of the USS Alabama. It crosses Mobile Bay to Spanish Fort, then continues along the shore to Mullet Point near Barnwell. Eventually, the trail will extend to the Weeks Bay Estuary Reserve.Along the way, you’ll pass Historic Village Point Preserve and go through Daphne (North Main Street is a good place for bikers to start this trail). At Montrose is Ecor Rouge. Then it’s on to Fairhope, a shopper’s paradise, and the venerable Marriott Grand Hotel before you reach trail’s end.Construction of the trail was spearheaded by the Baldwin County Trailblazers. 
Variations:
You can travel the route in any direction and start at any point. Most of the route is on extra wide sidewalks along the side of the road. The part of the route to the USS Alabama is on the shoulder of the highway. 
Features:
Great way to see wildlife, tour the communities along the route, and enjoy a vacation on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. 
Afterward:
Visit the shops and resturants along the way. 
Notes:
WILDLIFE WATCHING: Gator Alley Boardwalk is part of the Eastern Shore Trail. You’ll see plenty of alligators sleeping, sunning, swimming and enjoying the crowds. The boardwalk runs under I-10 and U.S. 98 and over D’Olive Creek in Daphne.There are several great Gulf Coast birding sites along the way, including the Mobile-Tensaw Delta Wildlife management Area and Meaher State Park.
