Arts and Music The Alabama Tourism Department announces 2007 as the Year of Alabama Arts. The campaign is designed to be a year–long celebration of the arts in Alabama that encourages both visitors and Alabamians to spend time experiencing every form of art that Alabama has to offer.

"Alabama has a diverse array of artists ranging from music to pottery to spoken word to painters — and everything in between," said Lee Sentell, director of the Alabama Tourism Department. "We're excited to show the rest of the country what we have to offer."

Elements of the campaign include:

A new Year of Alabama Arts mini–site has been launched. The site features descriptions and locations of art attractions, organizations and events in Alabama. There are video clips and background pieces featuring Alabama artists.
Three new TV commercials featuring several of Alabama's folks artists have been created. They feature Jerry Brown, Charlie Lucas and the quilters of Gee's Bend.
A new brochure titled "Must-See Arts Destinations in Alabama" will be available soon.
